Venice is located in the heart of “Silicon Beach” … a fairly recent description that has been given to an area of Los Angeles (originally Venice and Santa Monica) and now extending to Marina del Rey, Playa Vista, Hollywood and Downtown Los Angeles with a focus on the community of entrepreneurs, startup companies (whether it’s creative, tech, etc.), accelerators and venture capital companies. Today, there are over 150 such companies in Venice. The Silicon Beach Surfers (pictured above) is a private membership community of over 500 LA surfers working in entertainment, media, tech and investing.

Google Office

It all started with the 2011 opening of the Venice Google campus in the binocular building on Main Street that was originally the offices of Chiat Day advertising agency. Since then, they have expanded into many surrounding buildings and, more recently, have opened another campus in Playa Vista to the south of Marina del Rey.

Snap Original Office

Snap, Inc (formerly Snapchat) calls Venice its home. They first set up in a funky beach bungalow on the boardwalk. In 2013 they out grew out of that space and expanded to additional Venice locations including Market Street and Venice Boulevard. They now have over 1500 employees.
