Over the past few years Rose Avenue has been going through a transition with a recent influx of restaurants and shops. It started with Whole Foods opening in 2008 and Google setting up a campus just south of Rose in 2011 and hasn’t stopped. The neighborhood may be about to become the new “it.”

Along the street there is a new mixed-use residential complex with retail and restaurants below that replaced the old Pioneer Bakery. New offices, studios and pricey residences have sprouted on many of the small commercially-zoned lots.

The choices for dining now exceed ten with more planned. Old favorites such as the Firehouse and Groundwork still are favorites. What was originally the Rose Cafe recently sold has been renamed The Rose. New restaurants seem to pop up as fast as old ones disappear.

Rose Corridor Whole Foods

In 2008 when Whole Foods opened on Rose at the corner of Lincoln Boulevard, it was questionable if the surrounding neighborhood would be able to support them. Today, their success is evidenced by the fact that it is almost impossible to find a space in their parking lot.
